We have some great news, Lulu has teamed up with weRead! If you aren’t familiar with weRead yet, you might recognize it under it’s previous name, iRead, the popular social networking application for book lovers.
Now, in addition to publishing your books on Lulu, weRead will enable you to connect with well over two million readers across a variety of social networks. You can even create your own author page, and interact with your fans!
Another feature of weRead is that it has the complete catalog of all books in print. Readers will be able to rate your mystery and adventure book against “The Da Vinci Code”, and your period romantic comedy can be easily compared with “Pride and Prejudice”.
weRead’s discovery and recommendation engine allows users to find the types of books they will be interested in quickly and easily. Who doesn’t want more people finding, reading, and sharing your book?
weRead works on many of your favorite networks including:
• Facebook
• MySpace
• Orkut
• Hi5
• Bebo
… even your own blog or website!
To get started, you can either:
• Go to http://www.weread.com and register for an account, or
• If you already belong to a social network listed above, simply follow the link to install the application on your profile
To help you get more familiar with weRead, and what you can do with it’s features, we will be doing a series of posts focusing on how you can use weRead to promote your work and interact with the largest possible audience of consumers. Some of the topics we’ll be covering include tips for setting up an author page on weRead, and using weRead to market your work.
I hope you’re as excited as we at Lulu are about our new partnership, and be sure to keep an eye out for more Lulu and weRead tips & tricks.

The links for getting started are broken, as booksweread.org does not seem to be a live site. Should those links instead start with the url weread.com?
This link doesn’t seem to work for me. Thanks.

Has anybody figured out how to create an author page?
I did install we-read on Facebook, where I set up an author page (on Facebook), but do not know how to set one up on we-read, it’s so far simply a list of what you are reading/have read like Visual Bookshelf also on Facebook.
I’d appreciate knowing how to create author page on here soon.
Is weRead free? I would like more people to read my books, but I still want to know if it’s free, becuase I’m saving my money.
To post an author page… first create reg profile. Once this is done there is a link below your profile info section (left side where your name and pic is) that says create author page… it takes you to that section.
Now, my question is… my novel does not appear in the search, as the help section says it will if lulu… i had to add my title manually. However, now i cannot link my title to my author page. ANY HELP on this, nick?
thanks
barbara
I believe lulu books that can be found on weRead are those that have been distributed. Those just sold on lulu have to be manually entered. Mine are distributed and they were already on weRead so I didn’t have to appload them myself. I added them to my library list but I can’t figure out how to add the Written Books section to my author page (as other authors have it). Even when I search for myself under the authors tab I am not found. If anyone can help that’d be great.
Thanks,
-Lena
Hey Everybody! Thanks for all of the interest in weRead. Nick and I are working on a few how-tos on how to create great author pages and how to link to your books. Stay tuned for that post.
In the mean time keep sending in these great questions and we hope to give you the answers you’re looking for.
Agradecería saber más de las funciones que ofrece weRead para los autores. Yo tuve problemas para crear mi perfil ya que dos de mis libros tienen pseudónimo.
I wanted to give everyone a quick update on weRead. Currently, only Lulu books that have an ISBN will show up on weRead, but we are working with them to have tighter integration in the future. Unfortunately, we can’t give you an exact time frame on that yet, but it’s definitely high on our priority list. Once some of these initiatives have been implemented, we will be continuing our series of posts focusing on weRead.
